A dying sport in the Prairie small towns. I took this using my tripod and clicked away using multi shot. You can see the hooves of these horses as they thunder around a corner to the final stretch
In essence, what I was trying to convey is the atmosphere of a small town raceway. It includes the starting truck at the back which leaves to the left of the track, the falling down fence along the back, and the star of the show, horse #2 that was steaming to pass the lead horse. Because they come so fast and my rapid shot is not so rapid, it was hard to catch them all in the same frame. Last but not least is the bushes and trees. Ya kinda have to be a rural person to twig the memory of these events. Economcs in small towns are forcing the racing circuits to stay in bigger centres. This racetrack is in a small town of 600 people. 30% are at the event :>)
Looks like a fun sport - I think I'd like the picture better if 1) the lead horse could be fully seen and 2) the background wasn't so cluttered. Maybe a higher angle could have gotten a view of the horses with the dirt as the background? I don't know, just suggesting.
