Chris I use colorful plates under the water to produce the background and reflections. Childrens charector plates are very good this on is Teletubbies!

Hi Dan,
Fantastic reflections, superbly shot,
Q. What WAS the background to this fine shot?

Best regards,
Chris Womack

I love your "drop" shots---they hold so much meaning to me with my kids (a montessori thing). I love the colors here....great!

Dan, Thank you that sounds like a plan. I was trying the sound sensor. I built it myself using a laptop, in the dark with the camera on bulb and my studio lighting wired into the laptop. make a sound and it would flash but I never got a decent drop. I will try your way with digital what do I have to lose. Just hold in the shutter button and burst fire.

Shawn I will be happy to let you know my set up . You can use on camera flash , But I prefer Flash from the side. Take a pan of water and submerge a colorful plate about 1" under the surface . You might have to set something under it to get it near the top of the container or pan.Now set something in the middle of the plate , I use a prescription drug bottle, and prefocus the camera at the spot where you want the drops to hit.Remove the bottle. Use an eye dropper to drop the water , raise and lower the height of the droper hand until you get the timimg right , You drop and hit the shutter kind of together, With a little practice you can usually get 2 good drop per 10 tries. hope this helps

Dan,
This is beautiful. I have been trying this exact thing, but if you look at my portfolio you will see that I am not doing a good job (there are no photos of this there) I cant get the drop. I have tried every thing. Your colors are outstanding and the drop is perfect. Any suggestions you have would be highly useful. or info on your setup.

I always enjoy water drop images, as cliche as they are. The colours in this one make it more interesting than the usual water droplet shot.
