Hi Dave I have been to the top of Half Dome 3 times from 3 different directions and there is no fountain....but the pot of gold has helped to buy some new cameras! You were lucky with all the weather. I find that it is usually boring blue and missing all the potential drama of some clouds. Plus when the mist flies around the cliffs it makes for some unusual shots if you are ready for it.
