Very fine detail and composition, Kes! I feel that the snow area is just a bit over-exposed 'though.

Hello Kes,

A great view you present here !

I like the atmosphere and B&W was an excellent choise for this beautiful serene image. The composition and tones are also perfect. So, this really fits to "the hotel California..."
Well seen and done, Kes. Compliments !

Friendly greetz,
Albert Jacobs :)

Thanks, Tim!

Oh, you are so right, I need to get out and try it out, unfortunately my work is taking a lot of my time. On the other hand, there should be enough extra overtime money to get the 12/24 and a couple of quality filters by now.

On the new lens; the day I got it I noticed a dust spot inside the outer glass. Then while fiddling around I noticed that the outer glass - it threads in - was only finger tight!

So, of course I unscrewed it and blew off the dust spot and reassembled it. If this element/group's thread torque is not critical, this may be a blessing as an internet search revealed at least someone else had dust building up inside after some time. I haven't had a chance to contact my camera shop yet about this...just to see what they say. After 5 months I don't want to send it back...might take another 5 months... guess I'll give it a go.

You might want to take a few minutes and check your lens out at your dealer when it comes in. This is probably just my typical luck, lol.

Argentina sounds like fun. If I can find a lens case big enough for me to get inside you can borrow the lens! :)
Have fun...

This is wonderful- the light and the white- as well as the mysterious footprints- give it such a feel!...and now I'm hearing "Hotel California"!

Thanks Gary. This series was all shot about mid-day in what I consider bad light. Post-processing gave them all some extra "zing". Here, even with the loss of some detail, I thought the brighter white snow looked better.

The Shining came to my mind straightaway. This is so well exposed for the snow - it's not only the darkness that can be eerie The footsteps are a nice touch too.
