About I saw this kestrel perched on a tree and started taking shots as I got closer and waited for him to fly, well for some reason this guy had no fear of me and I got as close as i could get with my lens, after 30mins he decided to take off and this was one of maybe 3 decent shots i got in flight as my arms were burning!

Excellent shot, Marcus! As your whole collection of birds, another example of great sharpness under difficult conditions!

I am biased toward those photos of yours, in which you capture the bird on the flight and nothing else, since the flight itself is then the most profound element. Like on this one where the choreography of flying is so clearly visible!

Greate work, keep it up!

Hi Marcus,
Nice shot of this guy! They let us get to about 75 feet of them when we are in our kayaks. We were watching two of them this summer hunting for dragonflys. If we stayed still, they would come back to the same branch and eat the catch, before taking off for another one right away. Lots of fun watching these guys. I've seen them pick Barn Swallows right out of the air too. They are way too fast for me to catch on camera :)

Unbelievable shot for such a difficult and fast moving falcon.
Seems like you took full advantage of this " once in a lifetime" opportunity.
I bet you are proud for this shot and you should be.
Congratulations.

Marcus,

Very impressive! You are very fortunate to have one hang around while you approach. We have lots of Kestrels up here, and I have spent many an afternoon following them around only to get lots of pictures of their butts, very tiny in the distance. I have given up trying to get close. I'll wait till I get lucky. ;^)

Beautiful work Marcus . . . I don't know how you find this many differing birds of prey . . . but I'm glad you do!
