I definitely see the difference. I like the sepia better. I really does give it the historical look you need for the picture.

Thanks Tammy. I chose the sepia toning over the B&W because I thought it gave a more historic feel and I have a fondness for the Sepia too. I stitched these (and all my panos) manually . . . just never got around to getting one of those work easing programs. My SC award went to one stitched from 11 shots . . . and it's VERY time consuming. Shots like this are more problematic because of the lines.
Basically . . . I enlarge the canvas and copy the second photo onto it and then place them appropriately . . . warping and tweaking and cropping as needed . . . uniformity of exposure is the biggest issue. Still - there are others here that are VERY skilled at this and programs to make it easier - check out the panoramic forum to see conversations about this or to ask any questions (of the experts) . . . it's at http://www.usefilm.com/Photo_Forum/23/.
Oh . . . and thanks for the comment!

Love the B&W it brings more of the historical feeling. I would love to learn how you stitched the 2 images together.

Thanks Jessie . . . Very much appreciate the comment!! The tugboat is actually not a tug but an old sidewheel steamer which is there for display / tours like the larger ship next to her. They are maintained by the Maritime museum at Aquatic Park . . . :)

Oh . . . I don't know about that Robin (Monitor) . . . and, by the way, I didn't "ignore" your humble suggestion.
Either:
[A.] I had long, anguished, sleepless nights tossing and turning amidst my flat sepia toned nightmares . . . worried that my lifelong reputation as a budding Ansel Adams-Bresson would be forever marred with the ubiquitous comment from critics "Oh yeah, but did you see his shot entitled 'Anchored'? Talk about flat!"
- OR -
[B.] I made mention of it in a response so by definition it wasn't ignored . . . simply not acted upon due to sloth or lack of time or some combination thereof.
Stop scratching. (turning back now to the two-million comments I fell behind in the last several days)!

Noticed it too...sometimes there, sometimes not!?
BTW...I was on uf at my Mom's, on her monitor this showed a little more contrast...since you chose to ignore my humble suggestion, for good reason I'm sure, I'm wondering if my monitor needs some tweaking.??? (Scratching my head now) Take care...Robin

Sounds like a great plan and certainly a great use of these majestic vessels. They should load all teenagers up when they turn 13 yrs. old and bring them back when they're 21 . . . I have noted that as soon as they're decent to live with they're ready to move out! :P
But what a neat deal, really . . . I imagine it would be quite sucessfull but likely a difficult program to get in. Thanks Annemette. (You might wanna peek at the attachment I made for Renato - Shhhhhhhh! Heheheheee).

Thanks Sam . . . funny . . . I guess great minds DO think alike. I've seen steamboats before without the Steamboat Willie response . . . but when you said it reminded you too . . . I took a closer look to see why. I think it's due to that side paddlewheel and the cartoon like anchor on the stack! The combo does take us into the animated world.
Anyway, thanks very much for the comment!

Great info about this old fullrigger. It should be on the sea though where it belongs. In Denmark we have such ships that sail around the world having crews of troubled youngsters that benefit a lot from this. A combination of care, discipline and expectations make them blossom. Good choise of sephia! Best wishes, Annemette

Doyle, well heck!
What I Love about this shot is the ole time success of the sepia tones. Your presintation is spot on to me. I love the complexity(spelling) of the rigging. the size is really appreciated by the inclusion of the raft.
The other ship in the shot reminds me of the steam boat willie( mickey Mouse )cartoon.
Well done my friend as always.
Best Regards
