You are going to to have a good time with macros, Dave...good start! I agree...they are difficult, but one thing for sure is that you need a tripod. Another tip that I picked up from my sister is to use your timer. That makes a real difference, too. Keep shooting!!!!

I have been using a point and shoot for a year, but my first digital SLR is on the way! I can hardly wait!!!

And a wonderful composition on your first macro also! I sure didn't do this good on my first one.
I'm still trying to figure out kind of flower this is.
Congrats on the new equipment. And YES, for sure GET A TRIPOD! You really need one with macros.
