About
I think I'm getting the hang of the slower film and the shallower depths of focus. I appreciate the lack of grain, which lets me sharpen a lot more than I could with ISO 400/800 emulsions, because I need to. My shaky old hands can't hold the camera steady enough with my 100mm macro lens at 1/125th. At screen resolutions I can get away with it... but I think prints might be more problematical. Anyway, I liked these little red flowers, and the green leaves here and there around them were nice, too, and HEY! I sometimes have highly saturated colours in my subjects, too, y'know!
Dear Cessy, it is such a pleasure to have a comment from you that you can call me whatever you like and I will not complain. When I see your name I always hope that you will have posted another of your lovely photographs, but I note that these days you are sending very little Usefilm's way... [sad sigh]
PS: I have put details of a panorama viewer that you may like to play with in the panorama forum (where else!).
PPS: Glad you liked this one. The light was rather special that morning...
Thanks Ray. Of the three "flower" shots I posted yesterday this was my personal favouorite but I see you, my faithful friend, are the only one who has commented... My compromise is a unipod. I HAVE to use either a unipod or a tripod for my panoramas, to hold the camera in exactly the same spot for each photo to be stitched, and my budget doesn't run to carbon fibre, so I have a unipod strapped to my camera bag. Unfortunately it isn't always possible to use it... portrait orientation is difficult. Isn't the saturation something on this shot? I've actually reduced it about 15% to avoid tell-tale over-saturated reds.
Hi Roger.....I too joined the shaky hands club some time ago and had the same macro problems with my 100mm until I invested in an expensive but light carbon fibre tripod. These are lovely little flowers with exquisite rich colours and excellent details my friend. Well done to you. All the best....Ray
