Yes, Craig, if perching it on the railing of the balconey counts as "hand held." I held it pretty tight (it's heavy enough to have killed someone if it fell on them!). The slight focus problem has been cured, and I hope to be out and about taking more with it tomorrow... I've looked out the Fuji camera mag for you, BTW.

My mom would love it! She's a big Sumo fan! Did you hand hold this one?

Thanks, Kevin. Nice to hear from you. Sorry for my stroppy post the other day...
I quite often convert to B&W. I have a good plug-in that lets me emulate my favourite films and filters. But my rather "straight" (equals "boring") photos usually need colour to liven them up a bit, so not many get posted to Usefilm.

WOW i would love to see one of these competitions. I like the shot even with the soft focus as it helps maintain the sumo guys as the focus of your shot dispite all the business.

I'm so glad you were the first commentator on this photo! Yes, the Arax upgrade seems to have cured all the problems of the standard Kiev 88. It still requires careful handling, though. The 180mm lens is quite difficult to focus using the waist-level finder...

ahahah ! an Arax! Great camera, how is it? Is it really good as described in the website? I like this image, the quality is much better than the camera pict ;) I think the problem of the soft focus is made more by the lens (180mm is always a 180mm) and the aperture. The players seem to be in the focus plane .
Bye
