About This wasn't an easy panorama to take. With strong sunlight and shadows, the exposure was a compromise, and with people milling around the stitches needed a lot of cleaning up. But I'm proud of the result. This is a 360-degree panorama, and if you use DevalVR to view it, you will be able to pan around within the image and zoom in to see the details. (Details of DevalVR and how to get it will probably be in the Panorama forum by the time you read this.)

Thank you, Sergio. This one was such a large file I had to use strong JPEG compression and if you look closely the artifacts show... so it doesn't look its best. Glad you like panoramas!

Well, Mary, I hope that you are still having fun with all your busy-ness. The offer is always open. And you might like to try stitching a couple of pictures anway. It's cheaper than buying a wide-angle lens! (And you don't have to carry one around with you...) [grin]

Hi Roger. Thanks so much for the offer. I think taking on 360's will be a while down the road for me. Life is very busy right now and I am having trouble keeping up with my regular things. However, when I do try it, I will certianly look to your expertise for some advice.

Wow, yes, that would be really something, Mary. Unfortunately, the exaggerated perspective of a 360-degree panorama would make both sun and moon into pinheads, so you'd more-or-less HAVE to find a VR server so that you could actually zoom in to have a closer look. If you ever decide to try stitching, I can ease the way for you and would be delighted to do so. If you take the pictures and send them to me I could even stitch them for you! There are a few "gotchas" as you might expect. [grin]

I remember when I joined UF last March one of the things I enjoyed were your blossom pictures. Boy, that year went by quickly. You seem to be having fun with the 360 degree shots. They are certianly fun to view. Every once in a while when I see these I think of one I'd love to be able to do like this. When the Moon is full, is rises when the Sun sets and sets when the Sun rises. That one time on the beach, I got a decent shot of the Moon setting. All i had to do was turn around to watch the Sun rising. It is a neat experience. It would be a great topic for a 360.

Hi, 130.

By stereo photography I mean taking one photo each for left and right eyes (from slightly different positions about the same distance apart as our eyes) so that the stereo effect of depth can be enjoyed when both images are viewed with the correct eye. Many people can do this by putting the two images side-by-side and allowing their eyes to cross slightly. I have some examples in my "stereo" folder, and there are more explanations there. (Glad you liked this picnic atmosphere!)

Nice 360 degree photo, you did it the right way, the tree on both extremes framed the whole view. very good photo Roger and very interesting picture of picnic the Japanese way..
Btw, what is stereo?, can't find it..
regards..

Thanks, Susie. Nice to have a comment from you. I took this down (it hadn't attracted any comments) and reloaded it after I had played with the contrast a little but I'm afraid image quality has been degraded by the high JPEG compression I used to get the big image in under the 400k limit.

Wow Roger, it's plain to see the 360 in this. Great job, you should be proud. It's certainly beyond my knowledge of photography...well done!
