  Q. Negatives too dark!

Asked by Brent Tannehill    (K=314) on 2/1/2005
I accidentally over-exposed some black and white film. Now when I try to print them, the prints come out gray, with no contrast. Is there any way to make good prints from these negatives? I have some Kodak polycontrast filters, but have never used them.

over -exposuer usually creates too much contrast.
however, if the prints are flat and gray, you will need to use a higher grade filter. the paper may be defaulting to grade 2 or even 1 1/2 which is too flat. try a grade 3 or 3 1/2 moving up from their will increase the contrast
