About Dunottar Castle near Stonehaven Aberdeenshire, is probably my favourite Scottish castle. Location, location, location it screams. Yes the setting is staggering, but I had never seen it in better, more theatrical lighting than this and devoid of people too. I expect they thought they were going to get very wet. If you like this please have a look at my website at www.transientlight.co.uk and at the superb pictures on www.timecatcher.com

Hi peter thanks for looking and commenting the shadow is sort of inevitable with this strong directional lighting. I suppose I left it like this because I love the result, (what better reason). I have some arguably even more magnificent offerings from a variety of viewpoints, which maybe I will download at a later date, the sky gets even more thunderous.

Goodness me, what a great scene .. and joined with that awesome sky ..
Did you take a shot of the top of the hill with the castle, and then the towering sky ?
Only little minus is the shadowed left side which occupies a bit too much of the picture .. you could have chosen of a portrait crop, starting from the sunlit rim in the bottom, over the castle and to the very nice sky .. just my idea here ;-)
