Hi Fadel,
I had a lot of fun with this one. There was no real reason or message behind the subject matter. I was just trying to put something together to experiment with the film grain layer.
If I remember correctly (just read my own notes in the about) I put the grain layer on top of the image and then reduced the opacity of the grain layer to a low percentage so that enough of the original image tone came through.

Great imagination and creativity with the pieces you used Andre! The results are very spooky yet funny, and I love the grain technique results a lot, I'm guessing from your description that the image layer (with blending set to "normal") was on top of the grain and you played with the opacity? I was thinking about making the blending mode of the image layer "overlay" or "hardlight" to get grain in highlights and decrease as tones darken.

I don't think my wife would let me keep a pet goat in the house, even if I did want one :)
Becides we still have our youngest son living at home :) :)
I enjoy trying these once in a while. I'll go for a while and then something just gets into my head and I have to try it.
I knew this one was going to get different types of comments. Some found it humourous, some found it strange. That's okay. At least a few looked :)

I do agree with you on the point about grain. Noise or simulated grain is a good fall-back to attempt to eliminate some of the faults that might be much more obvious without them. You really have to look closely to detect the trickery. A lot of people's first impression is what stays in the minds eye.
Doing these kind of things is very much like a cheap magic trick....Once you know how it is done, the thrill is gone.
Still, I enjoy trying them!

Bizarre. I think it works because the added grain tricks the viewer into thinking this is an image shot on film (actually looks more like Plus-X to me), and thus is pre-photoshop. Very effective my friend, but it does point out one of the problems of modern photography. Prooving that an image is authentic by submission of the raw files, has become a requirement for many publications. Congrats Andre.

I told my wife it didn't look that bad... but she still wouldn't let me bring it home for some reason :)... even without the goat!
It was gone the next day BTW, along with the rest of the junk some idiot dumped by the side of the road. I'm pretty sure the municipality took it all to the dump.

I like trying to put semi-strange things together like this. That couch was in pretty bad shape, before the goat got there :)
I've attached the original couch in the snow file so you can see where I got most of the image from. I cropped the image right at the centre of the couch and then mirrored the file. I then combined the two files in one frame and worked on it a bit before adding the goat.

This is fantastic, Andre, and I do agree whole-heartedly with Kes...though, I think we could add that the chair appears half-munched on by the 'enthroned goat' making this image even more purposeful :) Great ps work...really hard to tell that goat isn't there and that's what counts!

The grain takes away from the effect of the snow I think, but it adds another different "dreamy" dimension to the image.
You're right though, I tried a few things on this image.

Wow Andre! Amazing, unexpected and surreal! I love the goat on a sofa in the snow! The grain adds mystery to the picture, as if you took a shot on a very grey afternoon with low lighting. The PS is great, I had no idea until I read the about. The half chair mirrored is brilliant! I love it! Lots of cool ideas and stylish goat :))))

I will just keep on plugging away at it for a while longer. There are many people here that are so much better at it than I am. It took me a while to get up enough nerve to even post one that had any manipulation at all in PS.
I like doing this kind of thing every now and then. Most of my "experiments" are in my "The Darker Side" portfolio. Some I like better than others. But I had fun doing all of them.

There are so many different things you can do in PS that if you don't keep at it, you can easily forget how you did something last week :)
I started off taking notes on my images, but I'm starting to get lazy. It's probably not a bad idea to use the "about" section as a living document for our own reference later on.
