Super image. It could do with a little more highlight on the wire, but it is very strong as it is now.

Hmm, I'm struggling a bit to find the message in this photo. If it's about the ruins, you could have tried a vertical composition, so they would get more attention. You could have also tried to get it from a lower viewpoint in the boat, so that we would get the feeling of being in the boat. Just my 2 cents.

This is an excellent portrait. Great lighting. Shame I don't get to know more about it. I think the composition works because he's leaning back just a little, at least that's what it looks like in the frame. This shot attracted me right from the thumbnail and to me that's what a good photograph can do.

Harvey,
Thanks for your comments. Putting in the face was a novelty for me, as I'm just starting with photography and photoshop, but I understand it's been done before. I'm going to take your advise on the framing and work on the original still life and see if I can improve on the framing. I hadn't even thought about the framing until now. Thanx! (I've attached the original. I'll redo the shot when I'm more experienced with lighting and composition)

Thanks for the comments, Lisa. This was actually more of a snapshot than a portrait. I've only just started taking photography seriously, and I'm currently using Photoshop as my digital studio. Indeed I had to tone down the lighting because the flash made everything look very harsh, but I'm very pleased with the result.
