This is a very nice, soft portrait, Lisa. Her face seems maybe a little over-exposed, except it looks to me like that was done expressly, and adds to the softness of the photo. It also allows for more detail to be revealed in the dark hair. Interesting angle of view too!

Hello Ania!
I've just viewed your two windmill photos, and I like both. I find the composition of the first a little more interesting, but this one, I like how the windmill is facing the sun, illuminating the front with warm light. Well done on both!

Wow, Michele - looks like you were nice and close here! This guy really is putting on the breaks, judging by the tussled wing feathers.

Another point of interest - did you notice how the bird, from the beek to the feet, is making the letter 'C', your last initial?

That's a nice shot, Mr. Hopson. Almost a silhouette, but some detail still captured. You could almost call this a romantic photo, eh?

And are we surprised at who's doing all the paddling?

Hmm... I'd be carefull if I were you, Michele. Judging by the way these gulls are working the camera, I'd say they are Alfred Hitchcock fans. Have you ever seen 'the birds?'

Hello old friend!
Love that blue sky. I also like how the gulls appear to be overlooking their domain, with heads held high.
I enjoy this one more than the other POV you added for comparison. I think this post divides the frame better, with regards to the sky and rock, at least to my eye.

Wonderful photo, Dave. I like the texture and the colouring, and of course the composition. I'm sure you'll put the compact tripod to good use!

Hi Alvin,

I like this image. I think you've done a good job of using the tools at your disposal to bring out the detail in the rocks, and the increased saturation of the sky works well. Removing the bright yellow is certainly an improvement to my eye, since I found it to be intense to the point of distraction. I wonder if that would still be the case with a print, since we would then be looking at reflected light instead of a light source.

Hi Tiffany.
Just like the other commenters, I very much enjoy the rich colours and the lighting of this photograph. A lovely image indeed! I also echo Nick's thoughts about the foreground, a little more brightness here would be an improvement, only not at the expense of the colouring in the rest of the picture. I have done some adjusting with my meagre photoshop skills in an attempt to achieve this.
All the best,
J.

Wonderful series of images you've captured, Stan. I think this is my favorite of the lot; something about how you have cut in tight to this one tree makes this photograph seem more personal, if that even makes sense. And I like how Shirley can see the sun as an egg nestled in the tree too!

Thanks for the comment, Rajib. You are quite correct, there is some camera shake here. I had the lens zoom at 200mm and wasn't able to keep a steady enough hand. I also cropped the picture, making the blur even worse.

All the best,
J.

Michele,
Such wonderful, warm colours! And a nice effect with the tree silhouettes, in this photo as in a number of your previous pictures.
I also notice you seem to like to give great emphasis on the sky while minimizing the land. Is this a conscious choice, or do you just tend to look heavenward naturally?

A lovely capture, Kim. I like the warm, natural colours: that combined with the softness really give this photo a peaceful quality.

Adam, of your three 'Morning Drama' posts, I like this one most. All three have good atmosphere created by the lighting and 1s exposure, but I find this one more interesting because it has more depth.
