About: Background, likely boring. An optometrist by trade out of university, I guess I got bored with the indoors the confinements of a box, same old same old. So I got an MBA from the states and went on to a career in Interventional Cardiology where I still spend too many of my waking hours.
Photography was always a way to record my travels, until I found the study of Fine Art Nude and then only then did I find the passion that could compell me to focus.
Most will notice there is very little studio work in my portfolio, the reason, while obvious to me has an explanation. I am Australian and it is also where I reside, I have spent my life in the outdoors, be it surfing, bush walking or sporting activities, nothing except my first job has forced me to live my life pursuing my dreams inside a box...or in the dark, albeit light can be fabricated. So I choose instead to explore the sunlight, harness its nuances and live by the day to day change it offers, one which I do not control...just endeavor to capture as allowed.
To my way of thinking it is quite simple, the challange lies not in what I can photograph with lighting I create and control, instead in controlling the lighting I cannot create, and can only control with my camera...There is never a dull day without surprise, opportunity and a new perspective. Single light source essential!
