Susan, it's obvious to me that you made an outstanding portrait with maybe too much background and you cropped in PS. Like I taught you, it is always best to get it right "in-camera" and add value with Photoshop; but you have to experiment and learn from your results. Overall this work is excellent. You have the vision.

Very natural expression and pose. Lighting is great. Fantastic job with composion.

My one concern is the photo has alot of noise. You could use Neat image to clean this up or the filter in PS CS2 or Elements 3.0 if you have either one of those.

A very nice portrait of your friend. I like the palette and tone quite a bit. And the composition is very nice. Personally, I would like to see the subject's skin a bit less rough in appearance. As it stands, the rougher textured areas pull back and leave the black leather jacket as the strongest single element in the picture. I'm guessing you want the portrait to be less about the jacket and more about your friend.
