thank you very much, deniz, for the visit and the advice :)
yea .. the bird would have been of better exposure if i took a spot reading off the grey feathers. however, the background would have gone completely white! nevertheless, you're absolutely right about the exposure the bright backgrounds and how they can fool the automatic exposure system of a camera.
again, thanks a lot for the advice and i will keep it in mind next time i go out photographing birds.

i think your back round is okey but there is a problem wenn you use a white a backround your camera selected automaticly a faster shuter or a smaler aperture so it makes the bird a litel bit black . but it not a problem but becouse of we are trying to do art but wenn you in the future to be a animal photographer for the documentations . you have to take care with your backround not to select a white backround
i mean not that this image bad is it significant perfect but not good for a documantation . i know you didnt want to take a documantetion photo becouse that is a great work my friend

I quite like the background, it's unusual and the composition suits it somehow, looks like a studio shot lol. I like this. (I'd clone out that little yellow mark bottom right though).
