Dear Nad,
This is very nice photo. Well composed.
I like background colors - sky and grass are great.
Also it's nice bird.
Only what I don't like so much is that rock where bird stands. In my opinion, you could find better solution. It's very blurry, probably much more than it should be.
Greetings!

Hi Ned,
I've just seen the original, and wow!! This is getting good. Love the grass in the background, but not the front of the tree (looks more believable in the back, to me anyway :)

And you got some more detail in his eye and on his beak.

Good job!!
Lori :)

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for adding me to your friends. It's my pleasure :)

About this image, I shot the original at the zoo, and the perch is a long tree trunk sloping inwards, that's why it's out of focus. To be consistent with the shallow DOF i tried to soften the grass in the front/foreground.

I hope I won't have to do any painting in the future and, instead, have everything right at the actual pic taking :)

Thanks agarin, Bryan.
regards,
ned

An excellent photo, Ned and good photoart. The very shallow DOF adversely affects the branch at the bottom - would otherwise be perfect. A great shot.

I think you did a GREAT job, Ned. This is one of my favorite photos of yours. I love the colors and tones. Looks very surreal. If this was a bad photo, I certainly can't tell. Great job.

Ned my dear, you do an excellent job of painting grasses, and I love the way you composed this. The colors are bright, clean and refreshing...I love the softness of the birds feathers and the colors as well, and an excellent capture of his face and eye, I always think that's important to get the eye, so very well done my friend...hugs...:):)Linda
