About This is the 15" refractor that resides at the Canadian Museum of Science & Technology in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). It was originally installed at the Dominion Observatory on Carling Ave. in 1905. It uses a three lens system manufactured by Perkin-Elmer Corporation of Norwalk, CT (not the original lens). The telescope itself was manufactured by Warner and Swasey Company of Cleveland, Ohio. Electricity powers the drive mechanisms.

Excellent shot Todd! It rare enough to get the museum to even open this observatory up, let alone when it's dark out! Having said that, this is an excellent composition and the cloud streaked sky really adds to the depth and attractiveness of the photo. Well done!

Hi Todd,

Great shot of this wonderful piece of Canada's astronomical history! I especially like the red lighting and the stars appearing in the night sky.

My only comment is... would have been a good idea maybe if a person was standing on top of that platform, to give reference as to the telescope's size... or use an even wider angle lens to capture someone looking into the eyepiece. I know.... I'm nit picking ;0)
