This is a classic of a kind.
Persons like me who are greenhorns take it to be a PS technique- but once you get to know the real thing you are hooked to the picture forever. I am indeed in awe! 7+++

Your portfolio is only small at present, Jara, but the quality is very good.
I like this shot, especially the combination of colours.
Nice work.
Kind regards, Chris

Hello Jara, I recall reading about this technique (or something similar with slow shutter speed) in a 1970's photography handbook!

I like this composition a lot. I can see that the balloons are not pasted in because the three frontmost ones have motion blur blending with the sky behind.

It's a fun idea, well executed. Quick thinking by you!

Cheers and thank you for your visit and your encouraging comments to me. I appreciate it very much :)
Rina.

With all respect to you Ina, I can not remove the shadows because they are there in the negative and the scans as well. I enjoy in-camera techniques, I do have respect towards digital enhancements too. I am really laughing and laughing to imagine myself putting balloons on a huge sea poster. My only request to you is to check the effects of REAR CURTAIN SYNC and SLOW SYNC under Flash photography section. Thanx a bunch for taking interest in my work.

Hi Jara, First I thought WOW! what a wonderful effect! But the balloons are not part of the scene. You have a drop shadow around each balloon, and even one under the string! How can a string leave a shadow on the sky?
Jara - everybody including me - uses Photoshop (or any other program) to enhance our pictures. There are still some people who don't for pure personal reasons, but those are fewer than the ones who do.
You don't need to feel you did something "wrong" if you worked this picture in Photoshop, or any other way (photographed a slide or a poster) with balloons on it, but just don't deny it, because there is no need for it. You don't gain more respect from me, for example for the fact that you DIDN'T use PS. I am visting your site to see your pictures, and I don't like to tell people "nice work - good bye" - because I believe you're here to learn and not to collect a number of monosyllabic comments.
I'd rather have one good truthful comment. So here is mine:
Nice picture, great potential. If you were to remove those shadows from the sky it would look more realistic!
Best regards,
Ina

Dear all,

Nothing had been added artificially, no pasting, no photoshop, nothing. No question of putting 'drop shadows'. The moving balloons tied with strings move about in all directions in the high sea wind. Being against the light they appear as blurry shadows. A Flash fill freezes the front portions. This 'in camera' technique is called SLOW SYNC for your info. thanx!

the blue Silhouette in the background is perfect abd well done
and the red balloons also is great
but the way you add it top the background and add a drop shadows to it
i think it is like a weak point
