Its alwyas good to experiment with everything a camera has to offer. You are right, a flash from the camera direction flattens out the scene, but then sometimes it can be exactly what you want. I used to be in flash photography a lot, but not any more.

Hi David-
Thanks for your nice comments. I have to agree with you on using a flash. I usually prefer not to use a flash because I don't like how it flattens and washes out my subjects (I didn't know about the enhanced color with a flash though).
I used a flash on this photo (and a few others on this roll of film) because my photography teacher wanted me to. She wanted me to experiment with using a fill flash. I thought that it worked out okay with this one, but I still think that I prefer soft natural light over a flash.

does he have lipstick on? ..just kidding :) I know that flash sometimes intensifies colors. I think its part of the reason I hardly use any flashlight. But his expression is really sweet here. Being a father I can see how you probably like this shot very much.
