Location City -  Multnomah Falls
State -  OREGON
Country - United States   United States
About This is Multnomah Falls in Oregon. With a drop of some 620 feet from the top to the pool at the bottom it has got to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls I've ever seen. It was quite foggy and raining when I took this so that's why it's all misty looking. Yes I did get quite soaking wet taking this one. The things we do for a moody shot :)

This is gorgeous.. I love to see this when heading towards Portland. The slow shutter speed has really made this and awesome water piece.

p.s. You work is far from mediocre... You have a wonderful portfolio and are so blessed to see such wonderful places!

Thank you Humberto for your kind words. I always use a polarising filter on my waterfall shots but unfortunately I don't always have it set correctly on the lens at the time due to rain or other time pressuring factors. It was raining when I took this photo and I found I had a lot of fuzzy round spots on the photo when I uploaded it to the computer. I later found those fuzzy round spots were rain drops on the lens so I cloned out the fuzzy spots in Photoshop. I always seem to be in situations where I'm in the rain or icy cold condtions or dry dusty weather so I always have either UV filter or polarising filters on my lenses for protection.

Thanks for dropping by.

Cheers - Ann :)

Thank you for your great comments. It helps to have a fantastic subject such as this one. Like I say in my bio... I take medicore photos of awesome places. A went back here a couple of days ago and took some more photos of it all frozen. It was an awesome sight. Will post in the New Year. The day this shot was taken it was raining and foggy and I got raindrops all over my lens so I had to Photoshop all the droplets out of there. It was a bit labour intensive but I think it came out OK. Thanks for dropping by and for your great comment Michael.

Cheers - Ann :)

Flippin' Fantastic - now you gave me a location that I have to see.

This might be one of those sites where you set up a tripod and take multiple steps to run through the new PS CS2 high dynamic range algorithm. I had a usefilm friend do the work on Nambe Falls in my portfolio, and by gosh it looked great!

Really helps if you have a waterfall in deep shadow and really bright highlights surrounding it.

Excellent shot. You're right in my backyard so to speak. Thank you for your kind words and advice on my waterfall. The reason it was such a tight crop is the area around it was crap. It's in Hood River Or. and it's stuck at an odd angle under a staircase and a sunbleached hill side. This is a superb shot of the falls good clarity and color.
Feel free to help me any time you care to. I can use all the heelp I can get. Thanks again, Ellen.

At first sight I thought this might have been taken in the cascades. You dont need sunny clear weather to capture a nice photograph, and this one is proof of that. Nice job.

Ann,
What memories you have brought back to me!! I went to college in Portland and these falls were one of the many day trips I enjoyed. But that was twenty years ago and I was not camera savvy at the time. Bravo on a well-executed shot, and merci beaucoup for the memories.

What a perfect capture of this Falls! One of the nicest I've seen of Multnomah. The rain/fog tamed the contrast wonderfully. The changing colors add just the right element of spice. AND, good on you for braving the elements to capture this scene. One question, though: who is the intrepid sole on the bridge?

Thank you all for your wonderful comments.

Gayle I'm flattered this you would even consider this image. Thank you for your wonderful comments. :)

Sam....I did clone out some other people but I left that one person there for scale. Thank you for your comments.

Thank you Kathy. Some people misinterpret misty for washed out looking so I thought I'd point that out that is WAS in fact misty.

Cheers all - Ann :)

I love this shot, Ann! I have to disagree with you, though...this is NOT washed out IMO! Misty yes, washed out NO! I like the way that you have placed the bridge just slightly above the center line...adds to the interest. Once again...I LOVE THIS!

Ann, I is a was artistic Shot....Very Moody. I Love the tones and somber mood it gives off to me. This silky water combines rather well with the fog. Well seen and presented Ann.

Best Regards

Sam III

Ps...Any thought to removing the person on the bridge?

And this went Straight into Favorites!!! :-)

Thank you for your wonderful comments Gabriela.

I'm living less than an hour from this waterfall so I have been there a number of times and each time I go there the mood varies according to the weather so all my photos of this waterfall are very different. The falls above, behind and beneath the bridge and the bridge itself all add to a yesteryear type of appeal of this wonderful place.

Thank you also to Kiran and Gary for taking the time to view my image and for your comments.

Cheers all - Ann :)

Oh!Oh!Oh!!! This looks great!!!A beautiful piece of work and it is worth all that rain, fog and clouds and schoolkids. The fact that it is a little bit misty makes the shot more attractive! The falling of the water is so elegant, not too much, not too little. And that suspended bridge is just the necessary accent.Dear Ann, my sincere compliments! I love it!

Thank you Lyle. I had to fight off rain, fog, clouds and tons of schoolkids to get this shot so it was a battle. At first I thought it was too washed out looking but that's exactly how it looked at the time. Thought I'd post it anyway to get opinions. Cheers - Ann :)
