Can I ask to you what's the 2.75x Panagor macro converter?
Thanks.

Hi Jorg, to confirm my previous post - I got the following info from the Ephotozine site about a 2x macro converter made by Teleplus and available in Great Britain. It seems to be very similar than the one I have:
Macro Converter This seven-element 2x converter has the added benefit of a macro mode which extends out to offer a 1:1 life-size ratio. You lose two stops of light, but the metering coupling is maintained so your camera will take care of the exposure, even in auto mode. The converter, made by Teleplus, is available in most manual focus lens mounts including Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Minolta and Yashica and is a very versatile option. The results produced are the closest you'll obtain to having a true macro lens. Use it with a telephoto lens and you have a powerful magnifier from close up and afar.
Distance from subject: variable. Expect to pay: £100

Hi Jorg, Thanks for your comments - highly appreciated. About the Panagor macro converter: I got it as apresent from a friend. It is oldn (possibly made in the late sixties/seventies. Based on the number engraved on it, it was probably designed to convert a 50mm lense to a 1:1 macro lense. It also has a zoom function allowing a magnification ratio of 1:10 to 1:1 with the 50mm Nikor lense I tested it with on an old Nikormat. It works perfectly with my 105mm micro Nikor except that I loose all automatic functions including the TTL metering. I practiced a lot and have established a system with the ringflash using f22 at 1/250th sec for the closest focusing distance (10cm) which gives me a magnifacation ratio of approximately 3:1. At a focusing distandce of 30-40cm I use f5.6 or 8 for a magnification ratio of 1:1. I could not find a similar converter on the market after endless searching the net. I have compared it also with extention tubes where a full set (10, 20 and 30) would give me a magnification ratio of about 1.8:1 or 2:1 at most. Close scrutiny of the images taken with the converter will reveal that the lense does not loose its resolving power, clearly reproducing the finest hairs. I did try the converter using daylight only which is not that successful since it looses too much light and when stopping down to f2.8 or 3.5 gives me no DoF while I have to decrease the shutterspeed to 1/60th which prevents me fromusing it freehand as with the use of the ringflash. Hope it helps. Take care. Joggie
