About	I'm posting this for those who know and love birds. I never realized that a snipe's upper mandible is flexible. This snipe would open it's upper mandible when like this when it scratched. Obviously they use a flexible beak to gather food.

Very nice steve, I have only seen snipes a few times and never a capture like this, but I did notice the beak on one and thought it was broken, Thanks for the Information, maybe next time I wont look like a dunce when I say look at that birds beak with all the other photographer around :) ...

Super shot Steve - really nice composition and do like that reflection. That bill sure does give a quirky look to this little guy. Well seen, and the water in the background is a nice frame for the rich brown, black and tan of the bird. Jan
