I have seen so many pictures that I can almost recognize a DSLR from a p&s image, or from film, just by looking. Of course, at 800x800 pixels, you really don't see it as clearly. But sometimes, the Panasonic still amazes me. The trouble is, I like to PP my pictures and the deterioration in quality is obvious.

ah - Ken Rockwell can explain it all far better than I: under "specifications"

I must say I've seen little evidence of noise in yr pics with the Panasonic Ina, but then you and I know that images on Usefilm can't compare with the original file. Nikon use CCD, Canon CMOS (I see the debate rages, inevitably, over which is the better technology). The REAL advantage over most if not all non dSLRs I have learned is the bigger size of the sensor. In your case, I think your Canon over the Panasonic is twice the size. Lemmy check..brb

I forgot to thank you :) The Leica lens has a great zoom, but the sensor is noisy. That's why I bought the Canon - for the CMOS.

Hi Anthony, I used the magnetic lasso to select the outline, which was fairly simple. Then I darkened the selection with curves and smoothened it with the smudge tool. I love PS!

Ina, you amply demonstrate what beauty lies within ordinary objects in your bottlenecks series, and of course I love these pics. What fabulous light you captured here and how well your image captures both smooth and sharp surfaces. Neon-bright, with a perfect background. That Leica lens of yours is a mighty glass. BTW, could you briefly describe how you blacken the backround in PS? It is very skillfully done. Do you use use the wand?

Hi Keseph, Actually, first I did the negative with the original background (some light gravel, which turned to blue/black). Then, I liked the black background and I went back and re-worked the positive (#1). Thanks for your comments :)
