Hi Peter - Thanks for the reply. I checked my references on Southern African insects and could not find that genus although it may be very similar than our local species. They are not exhaustive though and I will need the help of a entemologist on this one. Will let you know when I have a positive ID. Thanks a lot. Joggie

Hi again Joggie! I found this same fly yesterday in my garden. Their name is 'Coremacera Marginata'. The common English name is 'snale killing fly'.

Any idea what kind of fly this is ? I have never encountered this species.Great shot,i like the downward angle of this fly and the perfect clean background. This could not have been easy to get the focus spot on with such a small insect.
