About There is a Grande Dame...
A town some 90 miles up the Mississippi River...
She is now under threat of being raped and drowned.

There is a Young Lady...called Katrina... that is threatening to do take her over...

The hurricane named "Katrina" hit landfall from the Gulf of Mexico several hours ago.

The town was evacuating at the rate of 18,000 persons an hour, yeaterday Sunday morning.

A Category 5 hurricane, the most severe type measured, Katrina has been reported heading directly toward the city of New Orleans. This would be a human catastrophe, since New Orleans sits in a bowl below sea level. However, Katrina is not only moving on New Orleans. It also is moving on the Port of Southern Louisiana. Were it to strike directly and furiously, Katrina would not only take a massive human toll, but also an enormous geopolitical one.

The Port of Southern Louisiana is the fifth-largest port in the world in terms of tonnage, and the largest port in the United States. The only global ports larger are Singapore, Rotterdam, Shanghai and Hong Kong. It is bigger than Houston, Chiba and Nagoya, Antwerp and New York/New Jersey. It is a key link in U.S. imports and exports and critical to the global economy.

May there be wishes and hopes for all those that live in her path.

This capture was taken some time ago in the Quartier francais of New Orleans, which in several hours could very well be under water.

Good capture. Unfortunately it looks like there was a lot of damage.

Hurricane tore holes in superdome's roof. At least they knew well in advance it was coming. Tornadoes are worse

Email me and I will send you a capture... 1day1day and you will recognise... there were several hundred of like stone sculptures in the 1800s which were progressively stolen... it has unquestioned provenience... acquired for a relative song... some are in the Victoria&Albert Museum London... others with The Asia Society & The Met.M. in NYC... et cetera...
1day1day it will be likewise made available to either the Thais or others to view... as not correct to be in private hands...

Current situation re: Katrina seems to be that everyone wants to be involved and there is lots of $$ pouring in.

I would like to see your auction Buddha. What makes you think it was from Ayutthaya? -- Naomi

In case there is really worthy cause that need some $$, please advise... although have to believe that AmeriKa should be able to support its needs.

Your efforts are commendable.

FYI recently acquired a Budha at auction... that was most probably acquired by theft from Ayutthaya... I'll email you a pic should your wish...

I sincerely do hope that this hurricane will come to an end, before it makes any more destructions! Everything has at least two sides. Nature is beauty- and powerful aswell. And we sometimes seem to forget it: We human beings are a part of it.

New Orleans is a wonderful place on this earth, and not only me would regrett it deeply if this town and its surroundings would be destroyed, by this hurricane, not speaking of all the lifes, hopes, wishes, dreams sounds and creativity staying there ...

Kind regards, Urs
