The rich color and the shine on the wet sidewalk, the silly hat and the umbrella, the beautiful tones...all together make an excellent shot.

all the special details...that make a simple photograph wonderful. the repeating pattern of blocks in the sidewalk, the droll background punctuated by the red garment of a child who happens to carrying a pink umbrella.

I love the contrast and compoition in this. You could enhance this even more using photo shop to make the background a sepia tone whilst leaving the child in colour. This would also make the coloured panels on the top left less distracting.
