Great capture of the action, I think you should show more of it. I like to print dark too, but it looks like there is more detail in the low tones that many of us would like to see.

Mainly I think that the bold white framing stripe is too distracting. Try making it thinner, at least somewhat darker than the eagle's head feather, or just get rid of it
altogether, try it without, you can always put it back.
