Robert-

Very new, eh?

Then let me give you a few tips.

1- When you get a great shot, BACK IT UP.

2- Save your "rolls" of pictures in folders reverse numbered by date. This way your computer will order the folders by date.

Example, for the series taken at the zoo:
Folder name = 050727R1-louzoo
05 year, 07 month, 27 day, R roll#,-(note)

3- Never save changes to an original image file. Always "Save as". I often name a file with the folder it's in and the image number, so the original is easy to find, if I decide to rework a photo.

Best,
sammy

I love this photo.

Did you try "printing" it a little darker overall?

I guess I print darker than most photographers.
I'd rather lose detail in the shadows than let the highlights burn out.

Also hold a piece of paper horizontally over the very lowest part of the image, almost up to the right tire, so you are cutting off just a sliver of the pavement. I know this will cut off the "z" in zaire but making the light (attention-grabbing)area of the pavement smaller may draw less attention away from the good stuff. An alternative would be to try burning the pavement down several or more tones.

These are nitpickey comments. And maybe you have already tried printing it 20 different ways. But it is a wonderful shot and often a tiny crop or a little buring and dodging here and there can make a big difference, for better or worse.

Thanks for you comment on my picture.

This is very cool and a funny shot. I like the 'strap down luggage' note and the three children's casual looks, probably especially the one on the right.

This one's a joy to look at .. "Muy simpático" ... simply charming; a diverse collection of elements that go together perfectly well. And I love how different each kid's expression is. The B&W tones are smooth and the contrast is just right. Focus and dof are 'pro.' And sitting the three on that open van door provides the ideal darker backdrop to accent their figure .. this is you at your best Robert .. great ... I love it! ..Gabi
