About
'Brum' (in case anyone doesn't know) is short for Brummagem, another name for Birmingham, England's second city.
The halo-like effect around The Hall of Memory (a memorial to the dead of two world wars) is created by the Birmingham Wheel. To the left, buildings reflected in its windows, is the Hyatt Hotel in Broad Street.
Picture taken in the morning of Sunday, 17 July, 2005, at the end of a week when temperatures had been up into the 80s (many of us still preferring to use Fahrenheit to Centigrade/Celsius).
Yes, thanks again - I like yours. I've got rather a lot of reflections pictures (included reflections in the Hyatt) so this one wasn't especially aimed at focusing on the Hyatt. Your version has certainly improved it, though. I didn't crop this one because I rather like the figures in the foreground and to the right, with the empty walkway in between, but then I do have the 'advantage' of being able to see all the others that I took, where a specific building (with or without reflections) takes up most of the frame. Comments are always welcome (as is the editorial assistance)...
Len I never knew they had a 'wheel' and what an effect around the building. A good composition, maybe a little crop and a bit more brightening to bring out the reflections in the Hyatt and show abit more detail - see what you think. Margaret
