About This is taken of the very tip of a 14 thousand foot high volcano, this is the rainy season and as I was driving into town the other afternoon, this was all that was visible. The clouds were amazing, and you can even see the antennas used by the different stations around the area. The crater also has a soccer field inside. Our town is at the foot of the volcano. Alison

Alison,

Such fantastic drama. The image is quite strange, almost like on of those childrens books where the picture is made up of several layers of card each on top of the other going up the page.

Excellent stuff.

Many thanks for your kind comments on "Thistledown"

Neil

Quiet and peaceful photo, dear Alison, even with a soccer field in the crater, but menacing all the same.
Thank you for your kind comment on my "soldiers' talk." Can you tell me about Norman Rockwell's painting?
Best regards,
Rafi

Pretty amazing shot, Alison - it looks as though you were up at the same level as the crater to take this! Were you somewhere on the road to the city?

PS: Ya tienes e mail??

I love volcanos! Having grown up in Auckland NZ (which is built on some 12-15 volcanos itself - now all extinct) you get very familiar with them... In fact the main feature of Auckland's waitemata harbour (there are two harbours) is an extinct volcano and it was also the symbol of the school I went to!

The clouds in this shot are certainly amazing... I like the way you managaed to catch the tiniest gap to show the top of the volcano, giving the volcano a more sinister and dramatic feel. My only small observation is there is a small amount of noise in the clouds (clouds tend to show this up more than any other feature from what I've noticed). A quick run through a noise reduction application such as NoiseWare or NeatImage would sort this for you (both those apps have free versions avaialble on the web too!). Irrespective of the noise this was well seen and taken Alison!

Amazing cloud formations, Alison! I can see the antennas, but a soccer field inside the crater? Obviously it's an inactive volcano!
Thanks for your comments, too!
Dave.
