Nice shot, Dave. Colors and sharpness are very good. I think cropping the empty space to the right and below the bird would improve the picture further.

Dave I was so sure I had commented on this - must have got distracted or it disappeared into the UF black hole LOL. It is stunning, with the bit of flower coming out and the beak going in it is like an aircraft refuelling mid flight :)

Determination, that's what I've got for viewing some of your shots Dave.
Magnificent capture of this little fella. I love the pose you've caught. Must admit though that the crop to cut out some of the superfluous bottom background that Petal has done does work.
Just my opinion.

He certainly looks determined. I like all the space around him. It helps to show how little he is. A magnificent shot.

Excellent catch, Dave. I know how hard it is to catch these little rascals and get a good shot. I have tried several times. You've probably seen my best ones. Oh, wait, I haven't posted any because I haven't gotten one near this good.

Nice job.

Mark

ps. I do agree with the crop comments, though.

That's a super image Dave.. I don't know how did you manage to come so close to the bird with this wide-angled lense to capture such a wonderful photo.
Perfect depth management my friend, it just needed some cropping of the background from the right side, other than that it's a great catch man.... bravo,
Khaled.

Regardless of the crop, this is a great capture as it feeds naturally on the blossom, nice DOF and wing position/freeze action.

I think this one would look really good in a panoramic format, Dave. Maybe worth a crop to get rid of the 'dead space' below the lowest pine needle.
Still a fine shot of this remarkable little bird.
Best regards, Chris

The cropped version honestly doesn't appease my eye. I like it the was it is. This little guy is right on target too! Great shot, nice vivid colors as well.

Petal Wijnen Petal Wijnen   {K:50989} 7/11/2005
Great catch/capture!!! Wonderful colors, excellent DOF.... well done!!! But how about a little cropping (to loose some of that 'heavy' bottom), had a go at it, hope you don't mind.... ;-D!!!

Nice little hummer shot. There is one in my portfolio taken at 1/3000 of a second and its wings are still slightly blurred.
