Thanks for dropping by Ina! I know what you mean about the Hopper, I hadn't thought of it, he used this period of architecture so well didn't he?. It was a great place to be taking photographs. I had a few goes at this, got a lot of help. It was one of my favourite moments ever with a camera.

Ian, I don't really pretend to understand the "about" but I love this picture. I think the graphic is good for other purposes, it is very well done, but it competes with this exceptional photograph which holds so much drama, and shouldn't be viewed other than on its own merits. It looks like an Edward Hopper painting, the colors are superb, vintage-looking, and the view through the windows is something out of a Great Depression movie. The colors, the Office sign, the projected shadow, the windows, and the backlit man all form a great atmosphere that is so hard to capture with the camera, more like the stuff of paintings. Really, really good! Ina

Hi, I am Rob Lamb - the subject in this foto. I want to comment from a muso's point of view.Ian caught this moment so well. All of his foto's are excellent. If you can imagine the music that would go with this vision - then you'll know what we sound like. Thanx - Rob Lamb & the New Zealots

Yes, not the stand itself - I like it to be felt there. Just those tiny stars glaring there - but saying that, I see too that those stars counter-balance other hotspots in the frame. Maybe not a complete cloning out then, just a taking down of their intensity - push them farther into the universe, so to speak...

Good point Hansi. You mean on the microphone stand? I enjoy the lines of them but your talking about some distraction from the glaming hotspots there?

Comes off great on my screen - the shadows are alive! The dust on the right window is pretty near sublime too. About lights, I'd keep the two reds next to the listener, but maybe clone out the hotspots far left. Great Man/Light-study Ian.

Thanks so much CarlosI am proud to have been there and caught one of those moments I couldn't have orchestrated if I'd tried (but am tempted now to try). I'll fuss over it a tad more and try to go for a touch more tar in the shadows but the band is thrilled.

Very much agree with Roger Skinner ? this is an ?Out of this world picture?!!! And yes, among the very best I?ve seen here...
You?ve uploaded not only a picture but also a graphic composition - probably as part of your ongoing studio project. The graphic contaminates the poetry of the image for me but the picture carries the day!

A GREAT SHOT IAN!!!

Sincerely, C

Yeah I haven't had access to the internet for a week (it feels like) and on this monitor looks way brighter than I'd hoped. Not quite maintaining the tarryness of the original. Thanks for your useful input Stephan.

Digging in the noise for sure, but maybe that too is a fitting idea for what is going on here - the image is strong enough to to just turn around and say "that is how it is supposed to be." Not sure if the two red lights are good or not.

playing (as Tyrell would say) the music of the spheres, in light, simply... probably amongst some of the best photographs I have ever seen

Very nice and dramatic, and interesting composition, Ian. Love the windows too and the glow outside, and light streaming in the windows.
