I'd be really proud of a portrait like this one. I think the dof is just right - his face is nice and sharp, and the background pleasantly blurred - and the way you've captured the smoke - looks super!

The name does sound familiar. But here in Portugal they have the tendency to translate the titles into something completly diferent. Its stupid but...it does make me laught. :P

For instance "Snatch" - Porcos e diamantes (pigs and diamonds) LOL sooo you can image....

Thanks for the comment, glad you like it.

Wow, not bad at all for a first portrait! I love the way the light hits your subject from the side, making his face have a dramatic, deep feel to it. The smoke is great too.

Reminds me of something out of the movie 'Chinatown' except set in Portugal. have you ever seen that movie?

great job,
-Kevin

I wish i could tell you. But this was the first ever lesson in photography i had. The teacher is the guy being shot and all the numbers and letters on the screen were chinese to me. Sorry

Well done. I like the fine details and the slow capture of the smoke. What was your shutter speed on this one?
