I should have viewed prior to answering. It is not the same cactus. We also have a prickly pear similar to yours about to bloom. If anyone has any ideas what genus this one is please let me know. I can't find it anywhere and it was a gift from a neighbor. She doesn't know either.

Thank You, I am not sure about the genus of this cactus. It has a rose or mauve tinge to the paddles, and produces no pears. This creates a gorgeous contrast to the flowers. Thank You for viewing.

Prickly Pear? I live in the mountains of Virginia and we have a few Prickly Pear cacti here and there. The flower looks very much like yours. Great photo. I've attached a rather bad photo of our version. Thanks for sharing.
