man, i didn't look too closely at the thumbnail but i was like "ohh mice...that could be cute!" hahah but then i saw these guys... i guess you could say they are cute in a creepy sort of way, but not really :) the whole see-through body thing is just weird! haha however there is no denying this is an awesome macro shot!!! i can't even imagine how magnified this is! great composition as well! its cute the 3 are lined up eating their "lunch" of wood, yum! excellent work! Great shot. Hope they do make you famous. At least they'll be good for something. We have them in our wood pile in the back yard. Cheers, Ann.

Great shot David!

So glad these are good for something (being famous and all..) :)

Sadly, I know we do have some wood eaters....have to rip out a deck this year.

Good job with this photo

Have a GR8 day/evening

Amazing shot! In italy we say: "Maestro"
It's very impressive shot excpecially if I think to the five time life size maginification of the mpe plus extension tubes! The lighting also is perfect.

Compliments
Fabio

Hi Laurie
These little critters can actually eat through sheet steel and pvc plastic if they really want to get to some good wood!!!!
Hope they did'nt do too much damage :)

Hi Armando
Couldnt find the shot on Scientific American? but heres one from New Scientist and our own local ABC.

As for diopters I never recommend stacking filters of any kind. You can get closer but it introduces many optical aberations which reduce the overall sharpness and clarity. The B+W filters are extremely good quality but again wouldnt stack them.
