About I took these photos yesterday of a rose in my garden. It may not actually be a damascus rose species, but I live in Damascus and this rose is in my garden. The photos were taken on macro setting. I used photoshop to black out the background.

In my opinion the rose at the top left is the one that I would have made the main photo. The lighting is absolutely perfect for this shot.Making the background totally black is a bit of a contrast shock and I would have made it a textured mottled brown to take away the austere framing of such a beautifull subject.I can't say that I like the composition with four different shots on the one display at all.The rose at the top right is a bit overexposed and doesn't do much for the composition. The bottom left rose could be left out completely as it is totally the wrong angle for this type of shot.I would also include a portion of the stork to give a bit of green, slightly diffused so as not to distract the eye.Photographing a rose is the greatest portrait challenge you can have. Hello Lee Ann, I did not actually change this photo since posting it, but I will not go so far as to say that your memory is faulty. ;)
Arrgh! You are right about the bottom right photo! I wish I had included the whole rose in the original photo -- same angle -- just that then I would fit better into the composition. If the rose wasn't already dead, I would go out and take another photo. Dang nabbit -- now it is going to bug me! Thank you for the comment! Melody

I think you've changed this since your original posting, but maybe my memory is faulty. I really like the four views idea. Yet the bottom right view seems so separate from the rest of the composition. Could you somehow make it less of rectangle within a rectangle? Since it's such a great macro, maybe it could be a backdrop for the other macro views? Keep experimenting. It's exciting to wonder what you will do next.
