It was a long hard day at the office, with the client going IPO and deadline approaching things were really heating up. Finally decided to go home around 11:00 pm. I had brought my trusty canon F1-N workhorse with me to the office just like the previous hundreds of time, to shoot something just in case I happened to stumble upon it. Somehow decided to visit the famous Lahore food street, which happened to be on the way home. Didn?t have any particular idea or what to shoot just went there. Walked around thinking what could be done. Then decided to shoot from one of the multi storeyed building on the edge of the street. Knocked on the door of the residence and asked them if they would let me shoot from their roof. They obliged with a smile and the young boy took me to roof top. I had my camera loaded with my new found experiment film ILFORD HP5 400. Had previously tried Kodak Tri-X 400 many times but somehow wanted to try this film out too. Set up my trusty tripod, set the aperture to f22 and focusing to hyperfocal distance for the aperture and exposed for the shadows. I knew traditional B/W ISO 400 film has more exposure latitude for highlights so decided for it. Shot a couple of bracketed shots to be on the safe side. The pic is good documentary shot personally and am happy that I did what I did. The grain is film grain and I intentionally did not remove that . I Later went on to shoot the same place color. Will be posting in coming days. Food street is one of the traditional hang out places that the Lahore horticulture department has been developing and promoting for the last few years. Basically caters for the needs of traditional Lahori food also called khabas in Lahore punjabi. The menus are quite diverse, so you should be able to find something matching your taste buds. Do try it out if you are in Lahore. By the way the place starts to boom around midnight, so you wouldn?t want to show up early when there is no action around. And yep families can come, but only on predefined days and there is no limit on the no. of calories one can comsume per sitting :)
Salam hussan! Thank you for visiting my pic too. You are welcome to give any kind of feedback. It will be nice to hear your comments. Please do come again. Warm Regards, Saqib (thaaqib) Zulfiqar
