About I shot this also during our Florida vacation. Thunderstorm cloud produced 1 waterspout that was visible from our location for about 10 min. I was even able to compose shots with it while 2 boats moved in front of them. Contrast added in photoshop. Waited till perfect alligment with remote release in hand.

The cyclone and boat are exciting, but the color alone of this shot makes it very beautiful.

Elena, Once I was infront of tornado in my car with my little Daughter and my dad. Believe me I was scared to the deaf.... :) This time it was very far. More fun and just a great opportunity to shot and test new DSLR.

Richard, thank you for your comment. I was lucky to shot this amazing thing, but it was so far that I used 300mm lens with 2X teleconverter to get something visible in photo. Distance must be 2-4 miles at least. I wasn't scared at all because cloud wasn't moving toward us. But I just can imagine what could feel people who will be in front of beast like this.

Teunis, boat was fine. And people also, because they were smart not to go into this hell. Actually they are not at the same place, boat was passing in front of tornado, and I just waited with cable release to perfect alligment to shot them together. I have 3 shots with this boat and 6 with another.

Fantastic shoot, Stan! You are very lucky to get this moment, and you are really good, you didn't loose this ability. Very dramatic!

A very dramatic shot indeed. This is precisely why I almost always have a camera close at hand, although a shot of an alien invasion at the local "Burger King" might command a higher price from the tabloids.
P.S. I am impressed with your ability to think about composition under these circumstances.
