About Eye See the Door "Color Version"

I shot few portraits in incident light coming from the door. But in this particular shot instead of making another full portrait I composed the "Door" in the eye. I used a very shallow DOF to further enhance the detail in one eye which is the point of focus in this picture.

If you look in the left eye you will see that the light was mellow and was coming through the door to illuminate the room.

Shot in RAW... 4048 X 3040 pixel 12.3 MP jpeg converted in Bible Pro 4 and saved for web in Photoshop CS in low (15%) quality. The image shows the some signs and artifacts of this heavy compression

Waow, wonderfull shot, i really like it that you can see trough a reflection what he can see! Wonderfull composition, dramatic expression on the kids face. Wonderfully 'frozen' picture although you had quite a long shutter time, excellent job! My compliments!

Greets,
Lex.

This is our first, but hopefully not last meeting on the pages of "Usefilm" Mr. Zafar Rabani. I read your bio, looked at your webpage and thruogh your portfolio. You might be interested to learn that my father was a nose throat and ear Dr. not unlike you, but did not sepcialize in neck surgery. Like you, I was always interested in how things operate and had a passion of mending things. Gradually I came to the conclusion that the most imporatant thing to mend was the human soul and after a short period in my childhood in which I naively believed that it could be done by brain surgery, I decided to become a psychoanalyst and never regretted this decision. What I saw both in your webpage and in the two photos in yout portfolio was that you were a wonderful photographer, with a great sense for beauty. From all the excellent photos I decided to comment on this one, not just because it was the last photo you posted and hence the first one I saw in your portfolio, but also because behind its ostensible simplicity, which is one of the secrets of beaury in art, it hides a photo with eyes so beautiful I could hardly tear my eyes off them. The way you captured them, with the window reflected, reminded me of the paintings of the great masters of the past.
You are, of course, invited to read my bio and pay further visits to my portfolio.
In the meantime, I thank you for your kind words about my "Dreaming of Jerusalem."
Best regards,
Dr. Rafael (Rafi for future communications) Springmann
P.S.
In case you are interested in psychoanalysis, please send me an e mail (my address is in my bio but i'll repeat it here: rafael1930@bezeqint.net
with your e mail address in it and "Your book" in the subject line and I'll send you my book at no cost to you.
Despite its name, the book was written with the interested non mental-health professional also in mind.

Good composition, with the eyes on a diagonal plane, and of course the details and colouring are very good.
Thanks for your comments!
Dave.

Hi, Zafar.
Even with the loss by compression, it?s a fantastic shot! Great DOF and a beautiful model. :-)

Thank you for your comment. I had my Fuji, and I liked it very much. I?m a 'cameraless' for a while... :-/ Looking for a new camera.

Congratulations for your pictures.

My best wishes,
Márcia.

those are beautiful eyes and you shot them in a very beautiful way. Excelent work!
The skin tones, especially in the bright areas are a little off.

The thumbnail does not do this justice as one can not see the reflection in the eyes. Very impressive.

Amazing capture M, such crisp detail. Gret composition as already mentioned with the diagonal line and very original concept for the subject to be in the reflection of the eye. I am very interested in macro shots myself and would be very grateful if you would tell me how you have achieved such a shallow DOF. Kind regards, Ollie.

Hi Doc. This is good as it can be. Its amazing how you have captured the whole scene in the eye. Perfectly composed door and the light coming in the room. Very creative. The way you have framed the eyes diagonally in the frame is also superb.
