what an eye, emy...perfect control of space for a truly genuine tribute. so much going on, but every element is in its own natural space. not an easy shot at all...the result of most of us wd have been a messy and uninspiring set of lines - but not yours!

Hi my friend, how are you? I write to know if you agree in that : do you want give me some help on my site palermopresente.com? I would like you write your comments, if you want, when you want, on images shown on palermopresente : if there are images that stimulate your excellent critic soul. I read your comments to many photos on usefilm, and I see that these comments are great. That should be a new and important work on the site. If you want. If you do, you have only to read the images of palermopresente, mine and by other photographers, and to write what you feel. if you feel something, if there are images you like, images that "talk" to you, and so to comment them by mail to me. I'll put your comments on the site ( a new page : comments by Emily Savva) I think it will be good . tell me. thanks anyway.

Although i don't know Mr. Escher for being able to comprehend the tribute, i can say that this is a perfect archittecture picture dear Emily. I like the double or even triple level of lines crossed to each other and of course there is also the special angle and the depth of the field giving a unique character of composition. Well done dear! Cheers!

...a whirling intrigue of shadows and lights! i like how you have controlled the complex vision detaching the background courtyard from the lines of the stairs. A superb urban tribute to Escher, who have always fascinated me by the childhood times with his multidimensional world! Many thanks for the interesting sires! Compliments, Emy for this work. Maco

Emy! I absolutely love his work. I think this is a great tribute! I remember when starting art classes that I often drew things that were very much influenced by his work. I love the contrast, gives it an almost pencil drawing feel. There are many patterns going on here, from the rock wall, the zig zag flooring, the rectangluar stairs-all very nice. Wonderfully executed!

Brings to mind the film "The Name of the Rose" ['80s with Sean Connery], and its interior shots of a Romanesque abbey with an amazing Escher like labyrinth of stairs and doors leading back on themselves. Good image, Emy!!!

Thanks for the fine photo and history lesson. Geometry is so cool. If you can find it, rent/borrow a video called "Donald Duck in Mathemagic Land". It is a fantastic intro to the mathematics of art and nature.

Repeating pattern, both in the foreground as well as in the background. The stirs in the foreground almost create symmetry and the other create disturb that symmetry. I like that play, when the eye moves and read the image: enjoy the symmetry and being disturbed and then read the space inbetween. Great tribute dear Emy and excellent realization!
A hug, Jeanette
