About Having shot enough landscapes & having been overrun by screaming children & barking dogs (I should have got out of bed earlier I suppose) walking around Elvaston on Saturday, I changed the borrowed 16-35 for my favourite thing, the 100-400L, to try and get some bird shots. There were blue tits, coal tits, great tits & long-tail tits everywhere, but I was either looking straight into the sun, or the sun went in, or I couldn't get a focus fast enough. I was getting very frustrated, so on a whim I headed though some brambles to a ditch full of duck-weed surrounded by birch and other trees. I was getting seriously fed-up of screams & woofs in the distance when I spotted something out of the corner of my eye & managed to get 2 shots off before this treecreeper noticed me & disappeared around the other side of the tree, and then off to somewhere more peaceful.

On reflection I should be very, very grateful to the crowds for having driven me to where I ended up!!!!

ISO 400.

I have my monitor set very bright, and this looks just right to me. Let me know if it is too dull & I will repost.
Cheers
Steve.

very nice shot steve, I have problems pulling clear bird shot that are perched against like colored trees, you had no problem here as the bird is in great detail, very cool looking bird I dont think I have ever seen one before, as with many of the UK birds I want to see the big tits :), by the way color is perfect on my monitor...

Triffick shot Steve. One of those that make a day out of nothing. Well done.

Nicely done, great sharpness. I am still figuring out when to use IS and when not to;-)
Notthe same as my Nikon used to be. The lens scared me tonight it was very still and I heard the gyros start up inside the lens whoa !!
Hope to get shots like this myself this spring.
