I just read your comment about soaking the mouse to grow cress on it - and it had me - or should I say, still has me in stitches! Nice sharp nuthatch, and nice blurry background!

The click of the camera made it fly away, so I can't answer your question. I'm going back to where I took this with my mum for Mother's Day on Sunday, I will take some nuts & see if I can answer your question afterwards!! Regards Steve.

Yes Andre, they are normally seen running DOWN trees, they look very sleek & aerodynamic. You can't see that here! Treecreepers (I think I posted one a while ago) creep UP!
Regards Steve

This is so cute and humorous. Not only you captured a nice moment, but also captured very well in fine quality. It's a photo that pleases the eye.

Steve, The Nuthatches here in Canada have a very strange way of climbing the tree trunks. They are almost always seen in a weird upside down position. Do they do the same thing in the UK? I'll see if I can find a shot of one. Andre

Excellent Capture Steve. I thought the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 was designed to be the perfect zoom lens for air shows or sports, but here I think you made it perfect for wildlife and birds also. I wonder if you can post your personal review to this lens comparing with the 70-200 2.8 one which I think it has an excellent FOV and wide focal length. However, this shot deserves 10/10.
Regards,
Khalid

Good capture Steve at the decisive moment!I have never had the luck to meet one of these BIGFOOTS.Dit you actually see him swallow this nut in hole or does he crush it in some way?

Either you bribed him to pose like that or he's not real. Which is it Steve? Seriously though, this is a truly magnificent shot and knowing how quick these guys can be I'm surprised to see 1/125th @ f5.6. Fabulous. Den
