About Petrópolis Cathedral is certainly one of Brazil's most beautiful ones. For a Cathedral it's quite small and this makes it even involving. Its ceiling design is very interesting. Luckily it was decorated for a marriage.

Here lies Brazil's Emperor, Dom Pedro II and his wife.

Shot using a bench as a base for slow ASA film, available light and handholding don't mix well... The film is a 11+ years late Kodak Ektar 25. During this period it was kept on the freezer so colors are still fine. And NO grain. I loved this film. Still have one left for some VERY special ocasion.

Hi Trish,

not today, I still have to scan and there's not much more from inside this cathedral. And since the film was low ASA (25) the rest is, as Bond, James Bond used to say: shaken but not stirred...

Hi Debarshi,

When I used to photograph a lot, 10+ years ago, I used to store films that I specially liked on the refrigerator. Unfortunately I didn't store more of Ektar 25, I have only one left.
But there's lots of an old B&W (15 + I believe) film Kodak killed stupidly: Panatomic X. There are many images I posted here that were shot with it. Its grain, tones and detail were special, I find it even more attractive than Tri-X. I'll buy equipment to develop B&W again, but I bet it'll be fine too. B&W is more "rugged" than color films.
Unfortunately Film labs (mainly Kodak) seems to be ruled by technicians. At least they still produce Tr-X...

So, if you shoot film, keep cool :-)

Regards,

José Azevedo

Hi Trish,

nice to hear from you again, and also that you liked it. This place is really magical, this is just a small sample of it.

Oi Carmem,

Infelizmente fiz pouco do Ektar 25.

Hi Tamas,
actually I used one of its benches as a base for the camera. I don't have a tripod (too much to carry around) anymore but am considering a monopod.

Hi John,
this was an amazing film, don't know why Kodak ended it. At least I still have one left...
