I love the coloursing and texture in this lovely composition. The darkish colouring looks as though it was not only cold but dull. It is so nice when the sun shines and you can get more sparkle, could be lightened, [as Gustav has done and I like that] but your colouring also has something special

Hi James,
I tried shooting similar things this winter, and my experience is that you need strong sunlight that makes the ice crystals sparkle, in order to make the image "alive", so to speak; the frozen leaves are in a pretty bad shape and don't look too good under diffuse lighting. Another problem is that under really good light, the crystals generally don't last long, because the sun tends to melt them down quickly. So it's all about a short window of opportunity in the morning.

Thank you Danijel for your comment. Not many people have taken the time or effort to point out flaws in my work. Thank you for letting me know what didn't work in this image.

Composition is here, but what happened to colors and light? It looks as if it were taken under very unfavorable lighting, and color saturation and "spark", that would bring the ice crystals to life just isn't there. It looks dead.

Very nice macro nature image. My suggestion is: not to close the aperture to f22...you arrive at a better sharpnes with a setting of f/9,0 -f/10,0. This is in my opinion owing to the construction of the lens...Please find attatched my version of your picture.
Kind regards,
Gustav
