In March of 2004 I was participating in a B&W Free Topic Contest, and let me tell you that I won the 1ST PRIZE with this Picture in a Professional Category!!!, I am so happy and so proud of myself, definetly my best picture of 2004!!! any comments about?
Hello Hugo!!!, i know that the shadow ruins it a bit, also the crossing papers on the right bottom, but it was taken like that, no Photoshop for balance, contrast and no cropping in photoshop only for the framming and the size to print it big.
I wanted to get his face, but the old guy didnt wanted to, so i saw him grabbing the papers and i had to shot!!!
About my other contest, i didnt win any award but one of my picture (Coca Cola) was on the best 10 in the category of ESPERANZA (child contest).
As i already told you i begun to work as an Engineer and i havent had any time to go out or travel to take more pictures, is sad cause thats what i really wanna do for living, but in Colombia people dont get enough money working in art, and trust me i dont like to be a photographer of weddings, birthdays and first comunion. Anyways i will try to go out during the weekends and get to practice what i really like.....PHOTOGRAPHY!!!
A very good B&W Miguel! The tones and contrast are excellent! Great detail in the hands and the framing is nice! Very well done! Take care Miguel and thanks for Your kind comments! My best................JOHN
Hi Miguel, Congratulations! It is a very fine photo. The tonal range is excellent, and I like the guesture of the old hands on the freshly printed newspapers. The only thing that nags me a bit is the shadow on the right; I concidered a slight crop, but that would ruin the composition, which is very good. And it shows a very good exposure, as the details and contrasts are also well preserved there. How did you do in the other contests?
