About Found this dragon fly in our garden. Fortunately I managed to get right up to it to take some closeups without it flying away.

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for the full sized crop. I think you are right up against the limits of the camera here, I can't believe that 8Mp will allow you to get any better than this.

May I suggest that you offer this image to Canon as it is so good at demonstrating the ultimate capabilities of the camera and DIGIC II that they might pay you a goodly sum for the use of it.

I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Hi Martin

Thanks for your comments and complements. This is the full image (as in it was not cropped). It was resized to 800 X 533 to allow it to be uploaded however. I have however included a crop (500X500 - to allow unresized 1:1 detail) of the eye so you can see the level of focus achieved (probably a bit soft, but has enough detail). I used the flash and handheld - using a tripod and mirror lockup may have got better results...

Have a great new year!

Bryan

That's a cracking good image. I'd love to see this fullsize. My effort, also hand held and "in the wild", is eclipsed by yours.

Wow , fairplay. Stunning detail. The shadows in the background contrast beautifully with the colours of the Dragonfly.

Hi Brian, this is a fantastic image, I love it, but unfortunately, I cannot comment on the technical aspects of this macro shot. I love images like this, and I have a lot to learn from photographers like you.

Well done!
