Damion says that the Frangipani are native to Hawaii and Polynesia. They should be able to handle a little frost. Our region sees beautiful specimens of these trees but get subzero frosts for up to a few weeks a year. Over winter they look like dead sticks, but regrow and flower every summer. If you cut the growing tips off you will lose the next seasons flowers however they will throw more growing tips after you have cut it and the following year you will have a lot more blooms because they will be branchier (if that is a word!!). Even in Mackay (coastal Queensland, Australia), which is subtropical they look like dead sticks over winter.
If you are worried about them then choose the one you like the least and try it on that one first. Do you know how to grow from a cutting? If so, when you prune the trees back, put them into pots and you will generate a lot more plants for the next seasons and you could try leaving these out to acclimatise to your climate. If they are a small plant put an empty 2 litre bottle of soft drink with the top cut off, over the top of the plant to act as a small greenhouse or glasshouse
Hope that answers your question.

Judi, I didn't realize it but Lois says this is same as what I asked you about earlier. We have 3 4 ft trees now, but have to bring in as soon as a frost comes. You were to ask Damion if he thought we could trim them back a bit w/out losing next summers blossoms. We really envy you your extended growing season climate.......ummmmmmm!! I had called it plumria. Our space is liminted inside!!

Thankyou Marco. I took these images quickly as they wilt very fast. The milk sap was quite incredible in the bottom of the vase. But it will be stuck into our gardens to grow into a new tree and then I will be able to enjoy them even more.

Thankyou Ameed. I am pleased you like this one. This particular Frangipani grows across the road from my house and I have been waiting for months for it to start flowering as I knew what colour it is. I haven't seen this colour so intense before so I was pleased I could capture it.
